Gary, Jeff and I visited the Beijing Opera School, an institute dedicated to the classic Chinese Opera. It is state sponsored and very prestigious. The children accepted (one in five of all applicants) embark on 10 years of intensive training.
This is Gary (my father-in-law) and one of the teachers, who was kind enough to show us around. They are holding up the front of the costume to show us the elaborate needlework, even on the inside of the costume.
