This was the view from our room at the Swissôtel. They were most elegant accomodations (despite the very firm mattresses,) as were all the hotels we stayed in.
Another interesting point is the traffic circle. One of the most amazing things about Beijing was the traffic. With millions of bikes and cars, and a sort of laissez-faire attitude about the rules of the road, it was astonishing how few accidents there were and how smoothly traffic seemed to flow. The only time we came to a complete stop was on the freeway, returning Friday evening from outside the city.
